What Is a Pump Track?

A pump track is a continuous loop of smooth rollers, banked turns and features designed to be ridden using momentum rather than pedalling.

Riders “pump” their bodies up and down through the features to gain speed — it’s about flowbalance and rhythm rather than outright power.

Progressive Pump Track
  • Improves fitness: Riders use their entire body — legs, arms, and core — to generate momentum, building strength and endurance.

  • Enhances balance and coordination: Navigating the rollers and berms improves motor skills and bike handling.

  • Boosts agility and reflexes: Riders learn to quickly adapt to changes in terrain and direction.

  • Low-impact workout: Because there’s no need for pedalling or jumping, it’s gentle on joints while still providing great exercise.

  • Increases focus and concentration: Staying in rhythm with the track requires mental engagement and quick decision-making.

  • Builds confidence: As riders master new skills and lines, they gain self-assurance.

  • Reduces stress: Outdoor riding and rhythmic motion can have a calming, meditative effect.

  • Inclusive for all ages and abilities: From kids on balance bikes to adults on mountain bikes, everyone can join.

Selecting JB Extreme Landscapes to rebuild our club’s BMX track was the best decision we could have made. Joe and his team supported us through the consultation and design phases with an incredible ability to take our ideas and translate them into practical reality.
